April
2010
As
promised, we are revealing the results of our online survey and wish to
thank all of you who took the time to participate to help us steer
Free Spirit Gallery in our future directions.
With a total of 258 respondents from Canada, USA and all over the world, here are the results summarized.
Want to acquire Inuit polar bears - 20%
Want to acquire Inuit inukshuk carvings - 18%
Want to acquire Inuit prints - 30%
Want to acquire Inuit wall hangings - 16%
Want to acquire other Inuit art - 11%
Want to acquire Northwest native carvings - 31%
Want to acquire Northwest native prints - 35%
Want to acquire Northwest native masks ($800 to $1500) - 13%
Want to acquire other Northwest native art - 11%
Will not acquire any art in 2010 - 40%
These
results reflect the effects of the recession so if you have downsized
your plans to acquire art this year, you are not alone (40% of
respondents).
Interestingly enough, there are folks who still
plan to acquire art this year, especially with interest in
prints. We will explore the possibilities of bringing in some
prints (both Inuit and Northwest) as well as more Northwest carvings in
the future. In fact, master Northwest native carver Cody Mathias is already in the process of creating some new carvings for us as we speak.
For our idea of video DVDs, here are the results.
Interested in Inuit art DVDs - 46%
Interested in Northwest native art DVDs - 61%
Not interested in DVDs - 34%
So
there does seem to be an interest in DVDs for both Inuit and Northwest
native art and we will look into the feasiblility of producing them as
well.
Don't forget that art posters can be lower cost
alternatives to original artwork during the recession. Our
partner AllPosters has both Native American and Inuit themed posters
you can check out at;
It's
always interesting to see what other lovers of native art think.
Thanks again for being a continued visitor of our website.Clint
